An AI in your own room,
that works without internet

Pick your machine, we write the install script. It answers even when the router is unplugged, and nothing you type ever leaves the room.

SATI Installer

Your script in three clicks

All options →
1 Which machine?
2 How much memory?

On the machine: free -h. When in doubt, pick 8.

3 What for?

sati-install.sh

Copy the file to the machine, then chmod +x sati-install.sh and ./sati-install.sh. It checks everything and asks before it starts.

What is this, exactly?

Three ideas are enough. None of them is technical.

1

A big file, sitting on a machine

The artificial intelligence fits in a file of a few gigabytes — two or three films. You download it once, and it stays there.

2

A small machine is enough

A €45 board, a mini-PC, or a laptop nobody wants any more. What matters is memory, not speed.

3

You type, it answers

In a chat window, like a message. It rewrites, summarises, explains, translates. It also gets things wrong: check anything that matters.

Lost on a word? Every term used here is explained in one sentence in the glossary. If a word trips you up, that is our fault, not yours.

The questions everybody asks

Including the ones that suit us less well.

Do I need to know how to program?

Not to use it: once installed, you talk to it like any assistant, in a chat window.

To install it, you copy a few lines into a black window called a "terminal". None of them has to be invented — SATI Installer, just above, writes them for your machine.

Is it really free?

Yes. The software is open source, the AI models download without an account or a subscription, and there is no usage limit.

The only cost is the machine, once: from €45 for a board the size of a credit card — and often €0 if you rescue an old laptop.

Is it as good as the well-known AI services?

No, and we may as well say so now. On a sharp question or a long chain of reasoning, a local AI gets things wrong where the very large services succeed.

But for rewriting a text, summarising a document, explaining a concept, helping with an exercise or holding a conversation: it does the job. The right question is not "which is strongest" but "what do I actually need to do".

Where do my words and documents go?

Nowhere. Everything stays on the machine in front of you.

This is not a promise buried in terms of service: you can check it in ten seconds. Unplug the network cable, turn off Wi-Fi, ask again. It answers. Nothing can leave a machine that is no longer connected.

Will it run on my old computer?

Often, yes. You need 4 gigabytes of memory minimum, 8 to be comfortable — which covers most laptops from the last ten years.

Always start with what you already own. Half the time, a retired office laptop beats the little board you were about to buy.

What if I get it wrong and break something?

Nothing is deleted during installation. On a dedicated machine — a €45 board, a rescued laptop — the worst case is reinstalling everything, which takes about twenty minutes.

The script starts by checking the architecture, the memory and the free disk space, and asks for confirmation before touching anything.

Why do this instead of using an online service?

Three reasons, and you do not need all three. Control: what you or your pupils write goes to nobody. Cost: no subscription, no quota, no price rise next year. Continuity: it works in a room with no network, and the service cannot shut down overnight.

What it costs, and which machine

The question is not "which is most powerful" but "which is enough". You pay once, not every month.

What we do not promise

A site that only says what suits it does not stay useful for long.

It will not be as strong as the big services

On long reasoning or a very sharp question, a local AI fails where the very large models succeed. It assists, rephrases, explains — it is not an authority.

It sometimes invents, confidently

This is not a fault: the machine looks for the most plausible continuation, not the truth. Every AI does it. The only defence is to check what matters.

It will take half an hour and some patience

The script is written for you, but you still have to read it, copy it onto the machine and run it. Nobody needs to know how to program; everybody has to read.
